CLEAR ANSWERS
Questions Before You Give
Understand how your generosity turns into direct, measurable opportunities for children in Guatemala.
Will my donation really make a difference?
Yes. Your support helps sustain a model that keeps students in school, strengthens learning, supports families, and prepares students for future opportunities. Recent results include 99.1% student retention, 98.9% attendance, and 98% transition to lower secondary.
How will my donation be used?
Your donation helps sustain the broader work of Niños de Guatemala, including education, nutrition, socio-emotional support, family engagement, and the systems that keep the work strong and consistent.
Can I give through a donor-advised fund?
U.S. donors may be able to recommend a grant to Friends of Niños de Guatemala through a donor-advised fund. Please use EIN 45-5253062 and contact us if you need supporting information.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Tax-deductible giving options are currently available through Guatemala, the United States, and the Netherlands, depending on the donor’s country, the receiving entity, and applicable legal requirements.
After donating, you will receive a confirmation by email. Official tax receipt information, when applicable, will be handled according to the country and entity through which your donation was processed.
Can I give monthly and cancel later?
Yes. Monthly support can be changed or cancelled. If you need help, our team can guide you through the process.
If I sponsor a child, does my contribution go only to one child?
The Padrino program creates a personal connection with one sponsored child, but the funds are used to support the broader educational and support structure that makes that child’s progress possible. That includes teaching, meals, learning materials, and student and family support.
Do families contribute to their children's education?
Yes. Families make a modest monthly contribution of Q35, about $4.50 or about €3.90
The broader cost of educating and supporting one student is approximately $2,000 per year. This includes more than classroom instruction. It helps cover education, nutrition, socio-emotional support, family engagement, school operations, and the systems needed to keep the work consistent.
This family contribution is part of a shared responsibility model that helps families stay actively committed to their children’s learning. The remaining cost is made possible through donors and partners.
What happens after I donate?
After your donation is approved, you will see a Thank You page and receive an email confirmation. Receipt information will depend on the country, entity, and payment channel used for your donation.
